报告摘要
Transition finance has emerged as a key tool for banks to support net-zero targets and economic decarbonization, forming part of a interconnected system called the "transition finance nexus," which includes transition pathways, transition plans/planning, and transition assessments. This system enables banks to deploy capital effectively for emissions reductions, though it remains nascent and faces barriers like lack of standardized guidance, unclear policy signals, and inconsistent definitions. Key findings emphasize that transition pathways provide foundational guidance, transition planning is crucial for decarbonization strategies, and transition assessments bridge planning to financing decisions. Recommendations include enhancing pathway granularity, encouraging transparent disclosures, standardizing assessments to reduce costs, and addressing credibility issues. Overall, collaboration among banks, policymakers, and stakeholders is vital to scale transition finance and support real-economy decarbonization through a circular process where improvements in one element strengthen the entire nexus.
