Summary of Critical and Emerging Technologies List Update

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), in coordination with the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), published an updated critical and emerging technologies (CETs) list in February 2024 to support U.S. national security, economic prosperity, and democratic values. The list identifies key technology areas with potential impacts on these interests, revised based on a 2020 national strategy and updated no less than every two years through interagency consensus.

Key CET areas include:
