Overview: The study used a two-stage cluster sampling design with a response rate of 78.9% across schools, classes, and students. Total participants: 1,455 aged 13-15.

Prevalence of Tobacco Use:

• Ever smoked cigarettes: 43.3%
• Currently use any tobacco product: 17.2%
• Currently smoke cigarettes: 15.5%
• Currently use other tobacco products: 3.2%

Exposure to Secondhand Smoke (SHS):

• 24.0% live in homes with smoking in their presence
• 52.6% exposed outside homes
• 84.6% support banning smoking in public places
• 77.0% believe SHS is harmful
• 26.9% have a parent who smokes

Media, Advertising, and Cessation:

• 66.6% saw anti-smoking messages in the past 30 days
• 75.2% saw pro-cigarette ads in media
• 74.1% saw pro-cigarette ads on billboards
• 69.4% of smokers want to quit
• 63.4% tried to quit in the past year

School-Based Factors:

• 47.1% taught about smoking dangers
• 28.4% discussed reasons for smoking
• 46.5% learned about effects of tobacco use

Attitudes and Access:

• 19.4% think boys have more friends if they smoke
• 82.2% who bought cigarettes were not refused due to age
• 22.3% believe youth smoking initiation is likely next year
