报告摘要
Chile Metropolitana GYTS 2016 Summary
The Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) conducted in Chile Metropolitana in 2016 monitored tobacco use among 13-15 year old students. Key findings show high rates of tobacco use, with 20.3% of surveyed youth (1,481 out of 2,778 eligible students) having used any tobacco products in the past 30 days, higher among girls (26.4%) than boys (13.5%). Traditional cigarettes were used by 17.2% of students, with gender disparities, and electronic cigarettes were tried by 12.1% of students. Among current smokers, 28.9% attempted to quit in the past 12 months, and willingness to stop was expressed by 79.9% of students, supporting policies against smoking in enclosed public places.
Tobacco exposure was widespread, with 38.6% of students exposed to smoke at home and 47.4% in enclosed public places. Media exposure showed 49.0% noting tobacco advertising or promotions, while 49.3% saw anti-tobacco messages. Knowledge and attitudes indicate 48.5% of students felt tobacco smoking is definitely harmful, and rates of susceptibility to future use were significant, suggesting ongoing risks despite protective factors.
Strategic insights emphasize the need for comprehensive tobacco control measures based on these youth behaviors.
