Population and Income: Canada has a total population of 35.94 million people, classified as high income.

Diabetes Mortality: Diabetes and deaths attributable to high blood glucose are significant causes of mortality. For ages 30–69, diabetes deaths are 1200 among males and 640 among females; high blood glucose deaths are 2180 among males and 880 among females. For ages 70+, diabetes deaths are 2320 among males and 2450 among females; high blood glucose deaths are 5070 among males and 4990 among females. Proportional mortality shows that in total deaths, communicable diseases, maternal and perinatal conditions account for 5%, injuries for 35%, cardiovascular diseases for 27-25%, other NCDs vary, and diabetes contributes 3% in males and similar low percentages in females.
