报告摘要
Brazil - Palmas GYTS involved a 2006 school-based survey of 1,000 students aged 13-15 from elementary and high school grades, using a two-stage cluster sampling design with high response rates (86.8%).Key findings include smoking prevalence: 35.0% had ever smoked cigarettes, 15.6% used any tobacco product currently, with higher rates among girls for some indicators. SHS exposure is significant, with 32.4% living in homes where others smoke, and most students (89.1%) believe smoking should be banned in public places. Access to tobacco is noted, with some students buying cigarettes, and media impacts are evident, with high exposure to both anti-smoking and pro-tobacco advertising. Educational aspects show that over half of students learned about smoking dangers in school, but cessation efforts are limited despite many smokers wanting to quit.
