报告摘要
Bentley-Gallup
Americans recognize business need not be positioned as a blanket villain; trust in business impacting people positively exists (63%). Much larger confidence in small businesses (85% vs 42% large businesses). However, wide skepticism exists on specific business actions.
- Largest Gap: Corporations perceived to need regulation in many policy areas; ethics and practices like fair wages (82% view as very/important but <14% believe business is doing excellent/good job), environmental responsibility, and transparency in healthcare.
- Waning Corporate Activism: Only 41% of Americans believe businesses should take public stances on current events (down 7pp from 2022). While support for business speaking on climate change (55%) and mental health (52%) remains, issues like religion (15%) face minimal broad support.
- Generational Divide: Younger Americans (18-29) are significantly more likely than older adults (45+) to support business activism on issues like climate change, racial concerns, LGBTQ+ rights, and abortion. Similar trends apply to Black (61%), Asian (61%), and LGBTQ+ populations (57%) compared to their peers older than 45.
- Partisan Influence: Political party affiliation strongly correlates with views on corporate activism, with Democrats being over three times more supportive than Republicans.
-
AI 使用: Seventy-nine percent (79%) of Americans express low trust (not much/not at all) in businesses to use artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly; 40% believe AI does more harm than good.
- Widespread concern AI will reduce jobs (74% believe this) is especially high among those without a bachelor’s degree and older adults.
- However, younger Americans (18-29) are more optimistic about AI’s capabilities (e.g., improving online experience) than older Americans. Skepticism is present regarding AI's role in medical advice, driving, and hiring decisions.
-
吸引人才与商业影响力: Americans place high importance on fairness to employees (wages, benefits), ethical conduct (fair pay, ethical profit), and conditions for working (flexibility, mental health support, work-life balance). About half (55%) say they would switch jobs for greater social impact.
- Younger Americans are most open to lower pay (29%) for greater impact. Employer initiatives like offering paid mental health days (74% saw positive impact) and flexible work arrangements (87% saw importance) are highly valued.
