报告摘要
Overall Twitter adoption among online adults in the U.S. stood at 15% by February 2012, with 8% using it on a typical day, reflecting steady growth from previous years. Typical day usage doubled since May 2011 and quadrupled since late 2010, with increases driven by smartphone adoption. Demographically, African-Americans (28% overall) and young adults (26% of ages 18-29, or 31% ages 18-24) showed high rates, while urban/suburban users outpaced rural ones. Mobile technology, especially smartphones, correlated with higher Twitter use, with smartphone owners more likely to be users. Notably, the 18-24 age group saw dramatic increases in both overall and typical day usage from prior data.
